Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBTQ+) Domestic Violence

Abuse happens in all communities. Gender presentation, expression, or sexual orientation do not determine whether someone can be abused, or abusive.

Caring Unlimited’s services are available free of charge to anyone victimized by an intimate partner, regardless of sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Abuse is not more or less common in LGBTQ+ relationships, however there may be some additional behaviors used to keep control including (but not limited to):

  • Threatening to “out” you in places where you are not out.

  • Stealing your identity (opening or cancelling accounts in your name, using accounts without your permission, etc.)

  • Using homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, etc. against you.

  • Isolating you from LGBTQ+ spaces and/or limit interactions with your community.
